11 members of an American family had their stomachs surgically removed after discovering they had the wrong allele of the CDH1 gene and an accompanying 70% likelihood of developing rare (but fatal) hereditary diffuse gastric cancer.

"We're all going to die of something," he said, "but I know I won't die of stomach cancer."
